The Disciple-Making Process

The disciple-making process at First Baptist Jackson consists of four elements:

  • Gather
  • Grow
  • Give
  • Go

Gather
Gathering in worship, Sunday School, and small groups gives believers an opportunity to fellowship and build relationships with other believers while also growing in God’s Word. Special events such as VBS and Carols by Candlelight are another way to gather.

Grow
D•Groups are small groups of believers who desire a deeper walk with Christ and want to make disciples who make disciples. This model follows the example that Christ set and is how discipleship is accomplished in the lives of believers, and, ultimately, within the local church. Other ways believers can grow at First Baptist Jackson are through Sunday Night studies in the spring, summer, and fall, and Wednesday night classes in the spring and fall. Sunday Nights in the Fall  begins on September 8, with a study on Ecclesiastes, The Meaning(less-ness) of Life.

Give
At FBJ, every member is expected to find a place to serve within the church. This may be serving in the Preschool area or on the media team, teaching a Sunday School class or leading another group, singing in the choir, or some other way. Learn more about FBJ’s ministry areas or specific ways you can serve the church at the links below.

 Go
As Christians, we are ambassadors for Christ. We are to be salt and light in the workplace, school, neighborhood, and places of recreation. Other ways to go are to serve with FBJ’s local ministry partners or to go on a short-term mission trip. Finally, we should be open to God’s call to full-time vocational ministry.
