Joy2Jxn Serve Day

On October 5, the FBJ Family will spread out around Jackson to serve alongside many of our ministry partners in a variety of projects. Many projects are great opportunities for families to serve together. Make plans to be a part of this day as go out to bring Joy to Jackson.

 

Mission First Fun Day

Team size for each shift: 25
Volunteer Coordinator: Anne Lewis

Volunteers will help set up for the event, be available to welcome the attendees, and help serve in multiple roles as needed during this Fun Day event for more than 400 adults and children. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes! 

 

FBJ Parking Lot Clean Up

The team will work in the Churches’ parking lots, spreading pine straw in planting beds where dead shrubs and plants have been removed.

Soul City Church
JPS Swim Team Send-Off
5:30–7:00 a.m.

Volunteers will prepare care bags and send off the JPS swim team to a state meet with support and cheers.

Buried Treasures
Clearing and Brush Removal

This Project will include some basic chainsaw works and collecting and removing brush and tree limbs from the areas around the buildings and carrying these items to designated burn sites. 

Items Needed:   

Long sleeve work shirt (There is a fair amount of poison ivy.)
Chain Saws and operators 

Work gloves
Hats
Pruning shears
Rake (yard broom)
Long-handled loppers
Hedge trimmer (and long heavy-duty extension cord if electric; appropriate fuel if gas-powered)
Weed eater and line (and long heavy-duty extension cord if electric; appropriate fuel if gas-powered) 

Note: *Trucks with trailers would be helpful for hauling brush to central burn sites.

Craft Table at We Will Go Fall Fest
Coordinator: Anne Lewis
Volunteers will provide a craft table for elementary school kids and younger kids during the We Will Go Fall Fest.

Volunteers will assist with general clean up and outside maintenance, flower planting, and painting.

New Vineyard Church
Painting in Restoration Center
Team Size: 35
Coordinator: Jim Spikes 

The Restoration Center that will house ministries focused on providing activities for at-risk youth in South Jackson; training and ministry for single moms, vocational training for at-risk young adults and youth, etc.  

The goal of this project is to paint between five and ten rooms for use as classrooms, training rooms, etc. No experience in painting is needed.  

  

Items Needed:
Comfortable clothes to paint in
Any brushes, rollers, masking tape or drop cloths you may have.
Desire to make a difference in South Jackson 

 

First Baptist Jackson
Resource Organization & General Clean Up
Coordinators: Billy Stewart, David Nichols

Volunteers will help organize contents and dispose of unnecessary items or materials in various parts of the FBJ campus. 

 

Gateway Rescue Mission
4:15-5:30 p.m. 

Project Coordinator: Mike Boyd

Volunteers will serve dinner and lead prayer time with the clients at Gateway Rescue Mission.
