The name, "Koinonia"—which means community in Greek--is very appropriate for this loving class for women. They lean on each other for prayer support, laugh and cry with each other, and care about each other. Their desire, as a class and as individuals, is to grow in Christlikeness as they become students of the Word of God.
A Peek Into Our Group...
What Makes Us Unique
Our class is comprised of a diversity of women—both in age and background! Our members--who are single, single again, married, and widowed—have a rich variety of life experiences that bring wonderful wisdom to our fellowship. Because of this, the community we share is rich and deep. There is a welcoming spirit and warmth that reaches out to visitors and members alike.
What We Study on Sunday Mornings
We have a team of two co-teachers who share the teaching responsibility and take seriously their responsibility to handle the Word of God accurately. We study through a book of the Bible using the LifeWay "Explore the Bible" curriculum.
Outside of Class
Our class is divided into care groups with a Care Leader who checks on each individual in her group. Additionally we enjoy serving together. Each fall we enjoy honoring our church staff with a Staff Appreciation Brunch. We have prepared food for the First Baptist Jackson’s Friend-to-Friend International Ministry that meets every Thursday from 8:45-11:00 am. Our current project is called "Pamper Yourself" for young single moms, preparing "Goodie Bags" for the moms with an enclosed card inviting them to the new Single Mom's Class at FBCJ. Socially, we love getting together, sometimes out to eat or class parties hosted in members' homes.
